  • A Portrait of Mr. Green

    “A Portrait of Mr. Green,” Mixed media on canvas, 24 x 40,” 2008. $333.
It took me three days to do this portrait.  It was nice to watch his kind face change through layers of acrylic, oil, and wax medium.  I was playing a game with myself, trying to name actors whose features bear resemblance.

  • Morning Star

There’s something very serene about this painting. The colors quietly brighten a small space.

  • Holland

    “Holland,” 36 x 36,” oil and mixed media on canvas, 1998. $200.
I was an exchange student for a year in The Netherlands. I reminisced about the trip in this painting. I had an olive green bike that took me wherever I wanted to go. The country is so full of color [...]

  • Cheap Rothko

    “Cheap Rothko,” 8 x 10,” oil on canvas, framed, 2008.  $35.
I just think that this plastic frame and the layered drag of this abstract go so well together, I’m not shy to compare to the great, but late Marc Rothko.  At least these colors are upbeat.

  • Polke

    “Polke,” 8 x 10,” oil on canvas, 2004. $99
Sigmar Polke is one of my very favorite artists. This reminds me both of his work, and of a particular dot image of Madonna and Child in an Ear, by Salvador Dali. I was quite the busy worker bee while painting this image, a [...]

  • Op to my Tree

“Op to my Tree,” 26 x 30,” oil and wax medium on canvas.  1998.  $250.
Here’s an encaustic oil painting in the transparency series.  I had an op-art pic-nic dress and a shade tree.  My sister carries this around with her wherever she moves.  Thanks for never letting it melt, Molly.  Who doesn’t appreciate a good [...]

  • Zion Park

    “Zion’s Park,” 36 x 48,” oil on canvas, 1997. $700.
I painted and altered a photo from this gorgeous park in Utah. This the final painting in my first oil painting class at the University of Houston with Darryl Lauster. He was an eloquent professor. I remember an installation he did where [...]

  • Geishas

    “Geishas, 30 x 40,” Oil on board, 1999, sold.
I used oil and wax medium to achieve an almost skin-like effect in this painting.  I was painting from a photo.  I love the softness of the sky and the patterns of their ceremonial kimonos.

  • Car-nation

    “Carnation,” 36 x 48,” oil on canvas, 2007. Sold.
One of my favorites of the layered series. I smell the smoke drifting with the scent of the flowers in a moving vehicle on a rainy street. The hand of the driver holding a pull-tab aluminum can throught the curve of the steering wheel. [...]

  • Scrattered City

    “Scrattered City,” 36 x 48,” oil and enamel on canvas, 1997. $700.
This painting evokes memories from a colorfully lit china town, and the jumble of mixed languages. I used oil paint for the composition, then added the enamel squares. Later, I used this process for two paintings that sold on a museum tour [...]

  • Sumo

“Sumo,” 11 x 14,” oil on prepared paper, 1997.  Sold.
This is from the layered transparency series.  The motion and melding of seperate visual fields is what interested me about these compositions.  This one features sumo wrestling, meditation mandalas, building scapes, and a green blimp.

  • Record Shop Rumble

    “Record Shop,” 30″ x 25″ oil on canvas, 1998. $470.00

This is an abstract of representation of a record shop. I was doing a series of these paintings in Houston around 1997-98. I used layers of transparencies photographs to arrive at my composition. It is framed in a painted wood frame.

  • Rippletta Triptych

Ok, so here’s the whole whirling bubbly set. Even the frames are head spinners. I had fun losing myself by marking on these abstracts.  Bubble wrap, whoda thunk.
    “Rippletta Set” each 15″x 24″ x 1 1/4″.  oil on masonite framed.  $700.  2007.

  • Orange Wave

“Orange Wave,” Oil and oil pastel on Masonite, 15″x20,” 2007,
    $200.00/$250 Framed/$600 for the triptych.
This is one of three paintings. The triptych began with a series of dots lifted from a glaze of oil. I then sketched depth and lightness over each circle with paint and oil pastels. They are framed [...]
